What is the period of stay in public services?


By law, every citizen must have a residence permit. If it is not completed within the prescribed period, you will have to pay a fine. You can register by visiting the Federal Migration Service in person or using the Internet. In recent years, registration through State Services has become popular. To carry it out, you need to create a personal account, fill out an application and collect a package of documents. The list of required papers differs depending on the situation, so you should study all the requirements before applying.

What is this

This term refers to registration in a state database with information about the current residence of citizens or foreigners for administrative registration of the population.

To register, you must follow a certain procedure prescribed in the legislative acts of the Russian Federation. According to the rules, registration must be completed within a week after moving to a new place of residence. If you are still choosing housing, you must register within 90 days from the date of change of location.

  • When registering for kindergarten or school;

Registration for a specific period

Temporary registration through State Services will be required if a citizen plans to stay in another city for more than three months. It is issued for a certain period. The law established a period for this from 90 days to 60 months. Such registration is not indicated on the identity card. The citizen is given a certificate indicating the registration address. Every Russian has the right to move around the country, but registration records cannot be ignored. Such registration does not give the right to housing, but it allows you to receive social security.

If a citizen does not have a residence permit, this does not mean that he cannot get a job, count on medical help or other services that every citizen of the country is entitled to.

You only need to provide information about yourself once during registration on the portal. After that, it will appear on its own in items requiring you to record personal data. You just need to check that it is filled out correctly. If registration is made for another person, then the information must be changed and recorded manually.

If the process of obtaining a temporary registration is carried out while you have a permanent one, you need to check the box and write the address or put “No” in the appropriate box.

The citizen needs to describe in detail where he plans to live, indicate whose apartment or house it is, why the owner allowed him to register, perhaps he is a relative. The application must contain information about all homeowners, if there is more than one. The citizen who has started registration must write down:

  • education, qualifications.

  • After clicking, a window with a registration form will open. Enter your details, phone number and mailbox address. Click on the “Register” button. Enter the code from SMS to confirm.

  • Create an account. Fill in your SNILS number and passport details.   • Second option: through the service catalog, go to the section “Passports, registrations, visas”, then the subsection “Registration of citizens”, then “Registration of a citizen at the place of stay”.

  • Click on the “Get service” button.
  • Complete all lines of the application. Personal data previously registered on the portal is “pulled” into the appropriate lines automatically.
  • You only need to add new information. All required lines must be completed, otherwise the application will not be accepted for consideration.

  • Before sending the completed application, give your consent to the processing of personal data and confirm your agreement with liability for providing false information, and then send the application to the department.

The application will be verified within 3 days. Notification about the readiness of documents will be sent to your phone or email, as well as to the personal section of the website. The letter from the Main Department of Migration Affairs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs will either refuse registration or invite you to visit the department at a specified time.

Registration on a permanent basis instead of temporary

To create an application, you need to use information from your passport and documents confirming your rights to register in a certain area. An extract from the Unified State Register, a lease agreement, or a court decision is sufficient.

To re-register, you need to pay attention to the sixth paragraph of the application, indicating “No” there. All other actions are performed as during normal registration.

If you need to re-register from another city

To register through the State Services website from one region to another follows this:

  1. Visit the site and agree to accept liability in the event of providing incorrect information.
  2. Fill in your personal information according to your passport details.

  3. Indicate the current and previous address, checking the box indicating not being removed from the place of registration. This will allow you to check out and immediately check in at your new place.
  4. If you have your own apartment, then you need to check the box next to the appropriate entry. To register in someone else's home, you will need information about the owner.
  5. In the section on disposal of premises on the basis of State Services, you need to find out what to write in advance, since an extract from the Unified State Register will be required.
  6. Provide information about your other citizenship and fill in other statistical data.
  7. Decide on the place where the registration stamp will be placed.

Registration of wife with husband

If a husband wants to register his wife in his living space, he must perform the following actions:

  1. Choose the option with registration at your place of residence.
  2. Click on the service and study all the information that appears.
  3. In the registration options, you need to select the appropriate one.

The applicant must use his wife’s passport, the husband’s application for registration of the living space, the title deed for the apartment if it is owned by the husband, the consent of all owners or relatives living in the apartment, a home book, and a departure sheet.

Registration of children

To obtain registration for a child who has already reached the age of fourteen, he only needs to use his own passport. It is issued at the passport office at the age of 14. Housing papers will also be required.

When registering a newborn at the place of residence of the parents, when drawing up the application, the father, mother or guardian must indicate that they are the legal representatives. After this, start filling out the child’s information.

How long to wait for the result

Everyone should know how to apply for registration through State Services, since this procedure makes life easier, because you don’t need to stand in line or go to a government agency. The operation is carried out remotely; at the final stage you need to be at the Main Department of Migration Affairs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. This is a free service. It takes no more than three days to accept the application and make a decision. After this, a notification is sent and the date when the applicant will undergo document verification.

Before registering at a new place of residence through State Services, it is necessary to take into account the fact that an applicant who does not own a living space needs to visit the FMS with the owner of the apartment, with the consent of other residents in the premises.

Is it possible to obtain an international passport for a child through State Services?

The answer to this question is yes. Electronic submission of an application for a foreign passport is possible not only for adults but also for children. Parents or guardians can do this through their account.

Everything is the same here - you also need to choose an old or new generation passport and fill out an online form.

The age of the child does not matter - even newborns are issued international passports. If you are applying for an old generation passport, you don’t even have to take your child with you to the GUVM office. The new generation passport requires digital photography - so you will need a child.

Obtaining a temporary registration stamp, like most services provided by the State Services portal, takes place in several stages. First, you must submit an electronic application, and then go to a government agency (in this case, the Main Directorate for Migration Affairs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs) with original documents to confirm the accuracy of the information specified in the application. As soon as the employee compares the originals with the electronic application, a stamp will be affixed to the passport.
