One of the main utility payments is the payment for electricity. Sometimes situations arise when the owner was unable to pay the bill on time. This can happen for various reasons - vacation, illness, tariff increase, etc. In this case, a debt for electricity arises. Which could result in a power outage or a trip to court. Let's figure out how to find out how much to pay for light.
How to calculate fees using a meter
The most affordable and easiest way to find out your monthly expenses is using an electric meter. This device is in every house, apartment, and country house.
To do this, just take the readings and multiply them by the existing tariff. However, this way you can only find out current payments. And then provided that the owner keeps records of previous testimony.
The electricity meter shows the consumed electricity in kilowatts. To calculate, you need to subtract the previous ones from the current readings. Multiply the resulting value by the tariff.
Each region has its own tariff. It can be found in the receipt for payment of electricity, in energy sales, or in the management company.
We use a personal account to find out the debt
Information about the personal account is entered into receipts, on the basis of which utility debts are paid. Thanks to this parameter, it becomes easier to make queries on the size of current debts. The issue is resolved in several ways:
- When contacting the payment center employees. To do this, you need to come to the office in person, with all the necessary documents in hand.
- On the Energosbyt website. Registration in the system is required, indicating your personal account number.
- At an ATM from any financial institution. The main thing is to determine the name of the supplier for the corresponding region. You also can’t do without a personal account number. After a few minutes, information regarding debts will be displayed.
If the subscriber has objections regarding the amount of debts, it is permissible to ask for a recalculation. If errors are discovered, there should be no objections from the other party.
What is a personal account and how to find it out
When concluding an agreement for the supply of services or resources, the organization assigns the owner a unique number - a personal account. It stores the entire payment history of the apartment owner. Knowing your personal account number, you can find out the debt for electricity.
The account number is indicated in the receipt, in the contract that the owner concludes for the supply of electricity. You can find it out from your management company or energy sales.
You can contact the accounting department of the supplier's organization, they will provide information about the account number and the debt for electricity on the personal account. The owner just needs to provide his residential address, last name, first name and patronymic.
By the address
If the payer does not have information about the personal account number, the amount of debt can be found out at the consumer’s address, additionally indicating personal data.
Information may be provided over the phone or through a personal visit to the facility. A visit to the relevant division of Energosbyt will eliminate all questions regarding the debt. To do this you need:
- specify the address of the institution, days and times of reception;
- visit the organization’s office on visiting days;
- wait in line for an appointment with a specialist and obtain the necessary data on the debt by providing the relevant documents.
We recommend: What to do if you lose your meter passport
For the visit, the owner must prepare the following documentation:
- passport;
- service agreement;
- payment receipts for the previous month;
- confirmation of ownership of this property.
The direct owner of the property must apply. Otherwise, his representative must present the appropriate power of attorney confirming the powers of the authorized representative.

Until when to pay for electricity?
The government has set deadlines for paying utility bills for individuals. Owners are required to pay for electricity by the 10th day of the month following the reporting month.
If payment is not made on time, the owner will have a debt for electricity. And this will entail sanctions from the supplier.
Therefore, it is important for the owner to know how to view the electricity debt. This will allow you to constantly be aware of your payments and pay for services on time. And payment made on time saves time and nerves.
How to transfer electricity meter readings to your personal account
Timely submission of electricity meter readings will prevent electricity from being charged according to the standard, which may result in debts. Therefore, submitting meter readings on time is no less important than paying off the debt that has arisen.
To do this, you can use the following methods:
- On the electricity supplier’s website in your personal account, enter the meter data.
- Submit meter readings by telephone to the organization providing electricity services.
- Provide data in person when visiting the office of a settlement center or resource supply organization.
The personal account in this case is the main identification number that allows you to submit information and receive information.
Sanctions for non-payment
Owners should be aware that refusal to pay the debt for electricity without good reason will result in penalties.
It is calculated:
- 30 days after the debt arose;
- From 60 to 90 days the penalty is 1/3 of the refinancing rate;
- From day 90 the penalty increases and amounts to 1/13.
It is designed to encourage the debtor to repay the debt.
In addition, the energy supply company has the right to turn off or limit the supply of electricity to the owner.
Resolution No. 354 does not specify the amount of debt. But the supplier has the right to turn off electricity if the owner has not repaid his debts for more than two months.
In this case, the power supply company is obliged to notify the owner 20 days before the shutdown. Only after all procedures have been completed, the supplier has the right to stop supplying electricity. Or file a lawsuit to legally collect the debt.
Work order
A power outage occurs according to the following scheme:
- First warning, 30 days before service disconnection.
- Repeated notification 72 hours before actual work.
- Temporary suspension of resource supply.
- Final shutdown.
Representatives of the management company must record meter readings before taking decisive action. At the next stage, seals are installed on the device.
Mandatory stages include drawing up a certificate of work performed, in two copies. One copy is given to the supplier company, the second is left to the defaulter.
