Transport tax is paid by all car owners. The size of the payment depends on the characteristics of the car, and is therefore calculated individually for each taxpayer. Citizens do not make payments on their own, so they receive ready-to-pay receipts from the Federal Tax Service. Different methods are used for payment, but not everyone knows how to pay transport tax through State Services. This method has many advantages, since you do not need to leave your home and there is no commission.
When is the fee paid?
Individuals who have a car receive ready-made receipts from Federal Tax Service employees. To ensure that the calculations are correct, they can use special online calculators. The receipt contains the following information:
- personal data of the payer;
- the amount that must be paid to pay the fee;
- debt and penalties;
- the deadline by which payment must be made.
Attention! Individual entrepreneurs, like individuals, do not have to independently calculate the fee and submit declarations, unlike companies.
Tax notices are sent to citizens at the end of summer, but no later than a month before the deadline for making payments. Therefore, the last documents are sent before November 1st. If citizens have not received the document by the end of December, they can contact the tax office to obtain the document or details.
If a citizen uses his personal account on the Federal Tax Service website, he does not receive notifications. The same applies to real estate tax for an apartment or other property, so you will have to receive notifications and details through this account. Car owners are required to pay the tax by December 1 of each year. Otherwise, fines and penalties will be assessed.
Tax payment methods for legal entities
Legal entities are subject to the most stringent requirements for payment of tax payments. And for this there is only one possible way to do this - a non-cash transfer of the amount to the budget to the tax authorities from a bank account. If a legal entity has several valid bank accounts, money can be transferred from any of them.
To make a payment to pay a tax assessment, you must have a payment order. This document is filled out according to general requirements. It displays the following information:
- Code, name and address of the Federal Tax Service;
- Taxable period;
- company tax identification number;
- Date of payment and purpose of payment.
A legal entity can create a payment order directly on the official website of the tax authority by going to the appropriate section. During the preparation of this document, he needs to indicate the data and details himself, or select from the drop-down list if this option is available. If the client-bank program is installed on your work computer, you can carry out a payment transaction without leaving the threshold of your own home. As a rule, banks provide this opportunity to legal entities whose activities are directly related to those of a large organization.
If you do not have a current account, this procedure will not be possible. In particular, this applies to the situation when an individual pays a fee for a legal entity. Cash payments for tax repayment are accepted only from ordinary citizens. Even if a bank employee accepts the receipt, the deposited amount is unlikely to be taken into account by tax authorities as tax revenue.
Nuances
But this requirement has a small exception, the essence of which is that if the organization is at the stage of closure and the current account is declared invalid by a court order. But at the same time, there are open debts to the tax service; only the liquidator can pay debts on the land plot. Moreover, it must be officially appointed. In this case, the legal entity will also have to contact the tax authority to get the payment credited to repay the existing debt.
Enterprises and organizations, as well as individuals, are obliged to transfer funds to the budget of the entity on whose territory the land plot in their ownership is located. If there are 2 or more plots that are located in different parts of the city, the money must be transferred to the appropriate branches of the tax service.
Legal entities are the only category of taxpayers for whom a quarterly procedure for making payments has been established. That is, a receipt will be sent to legal entities 4 times a year. Their total amount = the tax amount established for them. You need to know that in addition to paying tax on a land plot, legal entities have another immediate task - preparing and timely filing a tax return.

Payment Methods
Citizens who need to pay taxes can use different methods:
- State Services Portal. If you identify your account, you can view all taxes, debts and make payments on the website. You can pay property tax for individuals online through State Services, as well as pay transport, land taxes and other taxes. In such a situation, the portal acts as an intermediary between citizens and the Federal Tax Service. All debts are reflected in your personal account, and you can also log in through the portal on the tax service website. To do this, you do not have to visit the Federal Tax Service office to obtain temporary logins and passwords.
- Federal Tax Service website. Typically, citizens prefer to pay the transport fee on the tax office website. To do this, you need to register and log in to the site, and you will first have to come to the service branch to receive a login and password. Obtaining information about the tax amount is quite simple, since it is reflected in your personal account. Payment documentation is also generated here, and taxes can also be paid.
- Mobile bank. Many banks offer a mobile banking service that allows you to use your savings via the Internet. Here you can top up any card, transfer funds between bank accounts or pay taxes. To do this, select the tab that allows you to pay taxes or fines. You can easily find a receipt using your Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN), as well as using a barcode, details or QR. A receipt confirming timely payment will remain attached.
- Yandex.Money or other services. Some sites charge a large commission, so before paying out money, it is recommended to make sure that the chosen service is profitable.
- Personal visit to a bank or Federal Tax Service branch. Such methods are suitable for people who do not save time, and therefore are willing to allocate approximately 30 minutes or several hours, since in these organizations a significant queue often forms.
- Using ATMs. To make a payment, you need to insert a card into the device, as well as provide the correct details, which can be viewed on the notification received from the Federal Tax Service.

How to pay land tax online? If a citizen does not have a profile for the “State Personal Taxpayer Account”, all payments will be sent to his postal address. Remote payment of charges is still possible. For example, using the “Payment for Government Services” service.

To conduct a transaction against tax, you must:

- Select the “Taxes” section.

- Decide on the payment method. Payments via online wallets or bank cards are usually popular.
- Read information about transaction fees.

- Make sure the information you entered is correct, and then confirm the transaction.
At this stage, you can complete your work with the “Payment for Government Services” service. The citizen will only have to save or print the payment receipt. It may come in handy in the future.
Is it possible to pay without documents?
Often, receipts do not reach car owners, which is due to the negligence of tax inspectors, software failures or other reasons. Therefore, until December 1, citizens do not receive a notification containing payment details. If you fail to make a payment, large fines and penalties will be assessed, which negatively affects the finances of citizens. Therefore, it is possible to pay tax without a receipt. You can get the information you need in different ways:
- applying to the Federal Tax Service department with a passport, after which the inspection employee issues details and advises on methods of making payment;
- taxes are paid through the State Services website without entering details, but this requires an authorized personal account, and the “Federal Tax Service” section is initially selected, and then the free information service is ordered;
- through your personal account on the Federal Tax Service website, but for this you need to have a login and password.

Payment through State Services
Most often, citizens prefer to use the portal to pay taxes or fines. But it is important to figure out how to pay personal property tax or transport tax through State Services. It is advisable to study the step-by-step instructions to avoid mistakes.
Authorization on the portal
You can use government services on the website only after authorization. To do this, a new account is created, which is identified in the Pension Fund or Federal Tax Service department, as well as in other government agencies where you need to apply with a passport.
Attention! Some citizens are confident that the transport tax has been abolished, but in fact it will have to be paid in 2021.
Checking the correctness of the fee calculation

Payment stages
Typically, a bank card is used for these purposes, which is available to almost every person. Therefore, the following actions are performed:
- on the main page, select the “Federal Tax Service” section, after which the details of the debts are studied;
- press the item to pay off the debt;
- a payment form appears where you select a bank card;
- information about the card is entered, represented by the number, expiration date and three-digit code on the back;
- click the “Pay” button;
- an SMS with a one-time code is sent to the phone to which the card is linked, allowing you to confirm the operation;
- After confirming the payment, a new page is displayed informing you that the payment was successful.
After this, payment information is updated in your personal account within a few days.
How to get a receipt
If a person is used to paying through a terminal or bank, then he will have to receive a paper receipt. It can be requested from Federal Tax Service employees during a personal visit to the department. Additionally, you can receive a receipt in electronic form on the website of the State Services or the Federal Tax Service, after which the document is printed.
You can pay taxes using the government services portal
The unified portal of state and municipal services (gosuslugi.ru) provides citizens with the opportunity to receive government services via the Internet, which significantly saves time and eliminates queues. On the website you can obtain information about state and municipal services and functions, departments that provide services electronically.
In order to use electronic services, you need to register on the site. The registration procedure itself is quite simple and will not take much time. List of documents required for registration at the EPGU: passport, SNILS (individual personal account insurance number). You will also need an email address and mobile phone number where notifications will be sent.
In order to use the full range of electronic services of the Unified Portal of State and Municipal Services (EPGU), a citizen must confirm his identity. There are several ways:
Personally: In this case, you will need to contact one of the specialized service centers - this is the Russian Post Office, office, division of the State Autonomous Institution "MFC". Upon presentation of an identification document, the citizen receives passwords to access the EPGU.
By mail: A registered letter addressed to the citizen will be sent to the Russian Post office within 2 weeks. The notification will come in the form of a postal notice. If you have a passport or any identification document, the citizen will be given a letter.
After receiving the password, you must enter a confirmation code. After entering and checking the confirmation code, you can use all the provided electronic services of the portal. The user will be notified of successful completion of the registration procedure via SMS or email.
Through the EPGU, citizens can access 23 services of the Federal Tax Service of Russia: monitoring compliance with the requirements for cash register equipment, the procedure and conditions for its registration and use; filing tax returns, including Form 3-NDFL; provision of information from the Unified State Register of Legal Entities; registration of legal entities and entrepreneurs; find out your TIN, etc.
Also at the EPGU there is the possibility of electronic registration for visiting the inspection. Each visitor to the portal can choose the optimal time period for themselves and independently make an appointment with the tax office. The schedule is open two weeks in advance, reports the Federal Tax Service for the Novgorod region.
Until 2021, the Unified Portal of State and Municipal Services (gosuslugi.ru) provided citizens with the opportunity to receive information about tax arrears and penalties in electronic form. In 2021, in the beta version of the EPGU, it became possible not only to check, but also to pay tax debts of individuals whose payment deadline has expired in accordance with tax legislation.
This service is available to all users with a standard and verified account. Most often, individuals incur debts on property taxes, which include transport, land taxes and personal property taxes.
The service for reporting debts, as well as payment details for its payment, is provided by the Federal Tax Service, which guarantees the correct repayment of tax debts paid through the portal.
In addition, the beta version of the EPGU provides recommendations on how to correctly pay off debt. For example, confirmation of payment by the Federal Tax Service of Russia occurs within 14 days; until this point, the debt is considered outstanding. Related to this is the recommendation to first pay the amount of the debt itself, and only then, after its repayment, the accrued penalties, since while waiting for confirmation of payment of the debt from the Federal Tax Service of Russia, penalties will continue to accrue.
Debt payment is currently available through bank cards. In accordance with the law, no fee is charged for paying tax debts.
In May 2021, the Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation announced the launch of a service that allows you to pay current tax charges using the EPGU on the website of the Federal Tax Service (www.nalog.ru). This opportunity was implemented by the Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications of Russia together with the Federal Tax Service of Russia.
The tax payment service is available to all EPGU users who have a confirmed account in the Unified Identification and Authentication System (USIA).
Information on the amounts of tax accruals is received by the EPGU from the taxpayer’s personal account on the website of the Federal Tax Service of Russia. EPGU provides users with a new opportunity to pay taxes with bank cards. While users of nalog.ru can make such payments only through the Internet banking of credit institutions integrated with this portal.
To pay tax charges, the EPGU user must log in to the portal www.nalog.ru, review the existing tax charges and debts, mark the tax payments required for payment and select the payment method through the EPGU. After redirecting to the EPGU payment page with pre-filled tax payment details, you must confirm payment.
Difficulties using the portal
When using the State Services portal to pay the transport fee, difficulties may arise. These include:
- lack of internet connection;
- Maintenance work is periodically carried out on the site;
- Often the portal is blocked by antivirus or other security programs;
- errors may be made when entering details;
- the money is credited within several days, so there may be a delay;
- The portal is often attacked by hackers.
In most cases, citizens do not face these problems.
Pros and cons of making payments online
Using different services on the Internet to pay taxes has advantages:
- no need to visit organizations;
- payments are often made without charging a commission;
- the process is completed within a few minutes;
- You can pay different fines or taxes using several receipts in one place.
Disadvantages include the possibility of a failure and the lack of instant transfer of funds to the Federal Tax Service. Payment of the transport fee is carried out in different ways. Often citizens prefer to use the State Services portal; for this, money is transferred from a card, as well as using electronic money or mobile payment. This method has not only advantages, but also some disadvantages.
