Have you ever gone to Turkey in December to splash around in the water? And we don’t – it’s a bit cold. In this article we will look at what comfortable weather should be like for swimming in the sea.
We’ll also show you where and when is the season for a beach holiday. So that you don’t buy a ticket to, say, Kemer in April and never take a swim.
What temperature is suitable for swimming in the sea?
For swimming in the sea, the water temperature is suitable from +21 degrees. This is a generally accepted value, but the degrees are individual for everyone - some are not afraid to get into the water even at +18°C, while others are only comfortable swimming at temperatures from +24°C...+25°C. Many people’s favorite “fresh milk” starts at +28 degrees.
Walruses, no offense. We will bypass you and start with higher degrees. The comfortable sea water temperature for swimming is different for everyone, but in general, the interval boundaries are as follows:
- +9°C...+13°C - icy , for very hardened people. Swim for 10 minutes, no more. We ourselves would not have climbed into such frozen ground for any price.
- +14°C…+17°C – and again we wouldn’t risk it . But this is how it feels. For some it’s ok, and this someone will swim here for an hour and a half.
- +18°C…+22°C – already closer in every sense. When entering the sea, which is a little over +20, you will have to endure goosebumps . But then it seems warmer than the air.
- +22°C…+24°C – optimal water temperature. If you don’t consider yourself a freezing person, you definitely won’t chatter your teeth. This sea is very refreshing in the scorching sun.
- More than +25°C...+27°C – fresh milk , ideal for the sea. But for fresh water bodies it is questionable (the likelihood of catching an infection increases).
