Every experienced consumer of blue fuel is familiar with monthly payments, but newcomers to this business have a question about how to calculate gas on the meter. This nuance will be especially relevant immediately after installing the unit, because when performing manipulations you need to take into account several important points.

I would like to touch upon such an interesting topic as the benefits of installing a consumption meter and analyze in detail the algorithm for taking readings. It will not be superfluous to pay attention to an example of a calculation; in most cases, it will help highlight the main points and avoid making mistakes.

It is necessary to understand all the details consistently, because in such matters one should be guided only by reliable information.

  • What does the gas tariff consist of?

    We all know that blue fuel is supplied to apartments through a central gas pipeline. The tariff includes the costs of gas production and transportation, costs of materials and construction of gas pipelines, as well as taxes and other industry fees. Every year tariffs are indexed taking into account inflation. In addition, regions can set their own increasing coefficients.

    As you can see, the consumer pays almost all of the energy costs. And every additional cubic meter of gas only increases the amount on the receipt. Therefore, it is worth clearly understanding what gas consumption standards are made up of.

    Gas consumption standards without a meter

    First of all, the volumes of gas consumed depend on the number and type of gas-using equipment in the apartment. Geographical location plays a secondary role: the northern region consumes slightly more gas than the southern region.

    On average, it is believed that in a house without a meter, 1 person uses 10 cubic meters per month. This indicator depends on the regions, the minimum values are regulated by Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 373 . The Appendix to it states that gas consumption is affected by the presence of central heating (central heating system below in the table) and central hot water supply (DHW).

    Standards are usually formed for either six months or a year. The amount for gas for cooking and heating water is calculated taking into account each registered person in the apartment. Heating costs are calculated depending on the square meters of living space. On average, 1 cubic meter of gas costs from 5 to 9 rubles in Russia.

    Consumption according to the device readings

    Most gas consumers consider it economically feasible to install metering devices , i.e. gas meters. It is important to take into account that you can only use devices that have been verified and comply with the established regulations (you can find out more about whether maintenance should be done forcibly and who should and has the right to service it here). They are installed only by specialists and sealed. The resident must take meter readings monthly and report them to the supplier organization by the 10th of each month for calculation of payments.

    How to calculate?

    Let's find out how gas supply fees are calculated. The amount to be paid for the service provided is calculated using the formula:

    P=T1xV , where:

    • T1-regional tariff for the cost of gas with a meter (rub/m3);
    • V is the gas meter consumption, i.e. the difference between its readings at the moment and the recorded volume a month ago.

    In this case, the reading takes into account the total volume of consumption, and it does not matter how the gas was used. It should be noted that T in the previous calculations differs from T1.

    For example , for Moscow the metered tariff (T1) is set at 6.83 rubles/m3. If the volume according to the device readings was 12 m3, then payment P=6.83x12=81.96 rubles per month.

    The above formula is valid provided that the meter is installed indoors or a special device is used to compensate for temperature effects. If the device is located outdoors and does not have protection, then it is necessary to use correction factors established by region, separately by month.

    For the Central regions of the Russian Federation, you can use the following values:

    • January, February – 1.08;
    • March, November, December – 1.07;
    • October – 1.05;
    • April – 1.04;
    • September – 1.03;
    • May, August – 1.01.

    In June and July, adjustments need not be made.

    Average consumption

    The effectiveness of installing a gas meter in an apartment can be assessed using average statistical data. It is worth analyzing the following typical options:

    1. City apartment with a gas stove and a water heater. The average meter readings (calculated per person) are 11-13 m3 in the summer months, and 14-16 m3 in the cold season.
    2. Corner 2-room apartment without heating. In warm weather - 12-15 m3, in winter - 46-48 m3.
    3. Private house with an area of 100 m2 with a gas heating boiler. During the heating season, average consumption is 350-370 m3.

    The given figures can be compared with the estimated volumes of gas consumption determined taking into account regional standards.

    Gas meter

    Consumers are given the right to install gas meters in their premises, which will record the actual volume of gas consumed. In this case, you will not overpay for unused volume. In most cases, installing a gas meter provides savings of up to 50%. You can check this using our savings calculator.

    However, the meter is only beneficial if you consume less gas than charged. For example, only a gas stove or water heater is installed. If you heat the room with a gas boiler, then it is likely that you spend even more gas than the standard.

    There is another advantage: if your meter breaks down or it is time to replace it, during this period you will pay for the average amount of gas you consumed over the past months. But only for three months (usually this time is enough to install the meter and seal it), then payment will be according to the tariff.

    What to do if the readings are transmitted with an error

    If you accidentally transmitted the readings of a gas meter with a large error, then it’s okay. Just pay the amount received on the receipt; next month the payment will be less.

    If the readings are underestimated, then immediately call the customer service department or enter new data in your personal account on your supplier’s website. The user can enter readings three times a month.

    Mutual settlements will be made according to the latest readings.
    If the organization has doubts regarding the specified information, a controller will come to the subscriber’s residential address within a few days and take down the correct data. Useful article? Rate and share with friends!

    Other gas saving options

    There are other options for saving blue fuel. Together with a gas meter you can achieve amazing results.

    • Check the thermal insulation of the room; you should not heat the outside as well. By eliminating heat leaks, you can dramatically reduce gas consumption.
    • Monitor the temperature in the room if no one is there. Modern boiler models even provide an option where the boiler operates at minimum mode and fully heats the apartment 20 minutes before your arrival. If your boiler does not have such advanced automation, then simply lower the temperature when you leave home.
    • Insulate the floors in your apartment, for example, by simply purchasing a carpet. If the floors are warm, that’s a separate plus.
    • Be sure to carry out regular maintenance of gas equipment. This not only ensures your safety, but also allows the devices to operate at maximum efficiency with minimal fuel consumption. In addition, you will protect yourself from gas leaks, which can result not only in paying for extra cubic meters, but also in problems with your health.
    • When choosing a boiler, consider its efficiency, power and gas consumption. This information must be indicated in the technical data sheet of the device.

    By taking good care of your gas equipment and following these tips, you can significantly lower your monthly gas bills.

    How to reduce consumption and save money

    Servicing appliances in an apartment or house will be one of the important nuances that will lead to budget savings. It is necessary to maintain the normal functionality of the equipment and identify faults in a timely manner. Such excesses not only increase the consumption of blue fuel, but are also life-threatening for all family members.

    Cold air will also not allow you to achieve maximum savings; such moments should be foreseen before the onset of winter. Window structures and doorways deserve attention first of all; they are in direct contact with the external environment.

    conclusions

    Depending on the region, one person receives from 10 to 13 cubic meters of gas per month. The more gas equipment is used, the higher the tariff. At the same time, the price per cubic meter of gas is usually 5-9 rubles.

    Without installing gas meters, you won’t be able to really save money. All advice is aimed only at reducing the volume of gas consumed. If you don’t fix it in any way, then there will be no benefit.

    How to submit testimony

    Before paying for gas on the meter, you need to submit the readings to the authority providing the service. To do this, you can use any of the convenient methods: call, send an SMS to the number of the district inspector, or transfer the readings through your personal account on the website of the service organization.

    SMS

    If you have the controller's phone number, you can send him an SMS message with the readings taken from the meter. Be sure to include your personal account number.

    Telephone

    The subscriber can call the telephone number personally to the controller or to the subscriber department of the gas industry. Get ready to dictate your personal account number and current meter readings.

    Department employees will enter the readings into the database in your personal account and immediately name the amount that you should pay for the reporting period (month).

    In your personal account

    For prompt transfer of data from the metering device, it is convenient to use personal accounts. To do this, you need to register on the supplier’s official website and regularly make changes via the Internet.

    There are resources that provide for the transfer of testimony without prior registration. All you need is to indicate your personal account number and real gas equipment readings.
